AutoZone Liberty Bowl
AutoZone Liberty Bowl
January 2, 2010

Since 1965, the game has made its home in Memphis, Tennessee in the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium and has established itself as one of the oldest college bowl games. Since 1959, the Bowl has hosted all-time greats such as Bear Bryant, Lou Holtz, Joe Paterno, Tom Osborne, Ernie Davis, Archie Manning, Doug Flutie, Bo Jackson and Donovan McNabb. Since 2000, the Bowl's average attendance is over 57,500 spectators. It has been one of the highest rated ESPN bowl telecasts with a national and international audience of more than 10 million viewers. AutoZone Liberty Bowl games have historically been evenly matched and highly competative between a representative from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) against the champion of Conference USA (C-USA). In fact, over the past 50 years, more than half the games have been decided by a touchdown or less and in the last 5 years, the game has been decided on the final possession.
